Revolutionizing Fashion

Longtime customers of Coyuchi are familiar with the "country of origin" notes on our product pages (detailing not only where a given item is made, but also where the materials that go into it are grown) and with the stories we post in the Naturalista about our production partners around the world and here in the US. Coyuchi has always been transparent about where and how our products are made, and we work hard to ensure that the people who make them--from farm to factory-- work in safe, healthful conditions and receive a fair, living wage. That's why we're excited about two initiatives we've joined this spring: Fashion Revolution and 1% for the Planet. Fashion Revolution: On April 24, 2013, a garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed, killing 1,134 people and injuring more than 2,500 others. Born out of that tragedy, Fashion Revolution seeks to inspire transparency and create awareness of how clothes are made, by whom and under what conditions. The goal is to give consumers the information to create positive change with their choices, and make fashion "a force for good" around the world. Fashion Revolution calls upon apparel brands to be transparent about their products, "from seed to waste," and urges consumers to demand that transparency from the brands they support with their purchases. We're happy to be participating in Fashion Revolution week, as we introduce our new organic cotton French Terry Lounge and sleepwear (grown, knit and sewn in India) and our Organic Essentials tees (made in Virginia from organic cotton grown in Texas). 1% for the Planet: In addition to being crafted to standards that respect the environment and the workers, beginning this year Coyuchi apparel and sleepwear will also support nonprofit groups focused on environmental issues through 1% for the Planet. Founded in 2002, by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Matthews (former owner of Blue Ribbon Flies), 1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses, organizations, and individuals working together to create positive change. Members of 1% for the Planet contribute directly to any of the nonprofit environmental organizations in the network, which are approved based on referrals, track record and environmental focus. So far, the network has raised more than $150 million to support nonprofits working hard to protect the planet. We've pledged a portion of the annual sales of all our apparel items to this amazing organization. Look for the 1% for the Planet logo to choose Coyuchi products that support the cause.
