When is a t-shirt more than a t-shirt? Our new Organic Essential collection brings everything you love about Coyuchi – pure, organic natural fibers and minimal processing combined with quality, comfort and style -- to wardrobe must-haves you'll want to wear every day. Knit from super soft ring-spun organic cotton, the pieces are cut for a comfy, flattering fit and garment dyed and washed for favorite-tee perfection from day one.
But there's a whole lot more to the Organic Essentials story than meets the eye. To make these pieces, we partnered with MetaWear, a GOTS- certified American manufacturer whose vertically integrated Virginia factory is powered by solar and geothermal energy. In addition to sourcing only organic, fair-trade cotton for their tees, MetaWear pays all workers a living wage and provides employment for participants in the work-release program of Fairfax County jails. By choosing organic upland cotton grown in Texas for our collection, Coyuchi is supporting 35 – 40 growers who would otherwise struggle to sell their crop, and we're helping to protect and sustain organic, non-gmo seed varieties, too, since these growers catch their own seeds to ensure purity.
We've even made sure that our leftover fabric won't end up in the landfill: all cutting room scraps from the Organic Essentials styles will go into the amazing creations of zero-waste fashion designer Daniel Silverstein. The result is a collection that's made in the USA, from field to fiber to fabric to factory, and sustainable from seed to scraps.
What's more, Coyuchi will donate a portion of every Organic Essentials sale to support coastal ecology groups through 1% for the Planet, helping to protect and preserve the natural wonders that inspire us every day. Now that's a t-shirt you can really feel good about.
