Coyuchi Joins the 100% Club

We’re Honored

We’re proud to announce that Coyuchi has been included in Textile Exchange’s 100% Club, a group of 17 brands that exclusively use organic fiber in their cotton products. Coyuchi has held this standard since our founding more than 20 years ago, and we’re honored to be recognized for our efforts by this internationally respected organization and to be in the fine company of Patagonia, Loomstate and Naturepedic among others.

The 100% Club was formed in 2015 as a way to acknowledge brands and retailers who are leading the industry in producing wholly organic cotton products. In an industry where only 1% of the world’s cotton is organic, this small group of leaders is committed to growing the organic cotton space. The hope is that these companies will encourage and inspire others to follow suit by sharing their story. In that spirit, we give you ours.

Of course, we don’t do what we do for recognition. We do it for the health of the planet, for the people who farm our cotton and produce our products, and for our customers. We do it because we truly believe that products made from cotton that’s organically grown and minimally processed are better products. We use only low-impact dyes and non-chlorine bleach, and we never finish our fabrics with wrinkle-resistant finishes, because those contain formaldehyde, which is toxic and weakens the cotton fiber. We avoid using heavy softeners, creating the wonderful feel of our products with quality fibers and weaves instead. And we minimize shrinking by prewashing our fabrics, rather than by dousing them in chemicals.

It takes extra effort to source and produce our cotton organically and with no toxic chemicals, but given all the benefits of organic cotton – to the environment and to the customer – we can't image doing it any other way. We're happy to be among the first inductees to Textile Exchange's 100% Club, and we hope it's a club whose membership grows by leaps and bounds in the years to come.
