The Coyuchi Cotton Capsule is a celebration of our organic heritage, made using an organic strain of brown cotton—untouched by dyes, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers.

The color that inspired our founder 30 years ago has finally come full circle. Introducing Coyuchi Cotton: a 100% organic strain of brown cotton—untouched by dyes, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers.

The word “coyuchi” means coyote-colored in Nahuatl, an American Indian language spoken in central and western Mexico. To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, we created a special collection crafted entirely using this unique cotton varietal. Rich in natural, undyed color, the Coyuchi Capsule highlights the beauty and quality of our namesake.

Organically grown cotton has major environmental benefits over conventional cotton, and it comes in so many more color varieties than just traditional white. Our Design Director, Whitney Thornburg, worked for years with our vendor in Turkey to develop an organic variety of naturally-colored cotton yarn that lives up to the Coyuchi name.

We’ve championed the benefits of organic cotton since 1991, before an organic standard even existed. Today, we continue to push for innovation in sustainable cotton production, and Coyuchi Cotton celebrates just how extraordinary this fiber can be.
